Yellow-Naped Parrot
The Paso del Istmo Corridor, between Lake Nicaragua and the Pacific, is home to species that have become increasingly threatened by poaching, loss of habitat and the illegal pet trade - including the strikingly beautiful, talkative, and therefore, highly desirable yellow-naped parrot. The yellow-nape is #90 on my year list. You can read more about my birding exploits in the The New York Times.
