Pearl Islands, Panama

After an appearance on the U.S. television show Survivor, development on the Pearl Islands, off Panama's Pacific coast, took off. Most of it, as is usually the case in Central America, was illegal. CAVU, the Costa Rica-based NGO I work for, flew my friend and fellow reporter Jose Arcia, of Panama's La Prensa, over the islands to document the damage.
